It's high time for another Fast Five (a.k.a., Ayunan Cinco for all of you Spanish speakers).
Today I wanna know:
- Gum, mints, or Tic-Tacs? And what flavor?
- What kind of shoes are you wearing?
- Suri Cruise: real or imaginary?
- What kind of entertainment do you listen to in the car -- radio, CD, talk show, or none of the above?
- Did you ever want to change your name as a kid? If so, what was your favorite "new" name?
Here's my answers:
- Gum. My favorites are Juicy Fruit (for the flavor) and this new Trident Vanilla gum that I've only found in one place. I'm still searching for it. It's got that breath cleansing quality I like. I'll do Tic-Tacs in a pinch, but Altoids make me want to claw my face off.
- I'm wearing my Nine West flat ballet slipper mules. Those of you who were at BlogHer may have seen them. Comfy and cute, although they were hell to break in.
- I'm gonna say Suri is real, because I just heard some theories this morning on why she's in hiding (Scientologists don't believe in medical intervention so she hasn't had vaccines and is being kept in seclusion so as not to catch anything). Makes sense. But I do think it's bizarre that there's not a single picture of her out in public.
- Depends on my mood. For the commute it's talk show in the AM, music in the PM (CD or radio). For long trips I'll channel-surf.
- Never liked the name Nancy all that much. I wanted to be Jocelyn.
If you are so inclined, please leave your answers in the comments!
1. Cinnamon Altoids, but only because they stopped making cinnamon Mentos.
2. I'm barefoot.
3. I think Suri is totally made up. I live near Katie Holmes' hometown, and there is much speculation that she and the baby will be spotted around here soon. I also like your theory.
4. Usually CD's, but sometimes when I'm in the car alone, I listen to conservative talk radio. Just to hear what they're saying.
5. I wanted to be Amanda or Victoria. There were always too many Amy's - still are.

1. Gum. Whatever flavor, but preferably not one that tastes like Pepto Bismol.
2. No shoes.
3. I suppose she is real. I had heard another reason there are no pictures is that no one would pay the $$ Tom wanted. Then they Jolie had her baby and everyone forgot about Suri. LOL!
4. SIRIUS radio. Usually Radio Disney if the kids are in the car. I list to Alt Nation (80s alternative) or the 80s station.
5. I always like my name. My middle name, not so much. Since no on ever used the middle, I never thought about changing it.

1. Gum, sugarfree and sweet. Watermelon, cherry, whatever. I spit it out as soon as there is no flavor.
2. Wearing-out favorite old sandals.
3. I think she is real and they don't' care what people think because they are really famous and really rich. Oh, and really, really weird.
4. I listen to talk radio 99% of the time.
5. I never liked my name because I thought it was too short and there was no possible true nickname, although my favorite name growing up was also short w/ no possibility for a nickname: Beth.

What a fun game! (God, I am a dork.)
1. Mints. Altoids, any flavor.
2. flip flops
3. Suri Cruise: imaginary (at least I hope so, for Suri's sake)
4.unfortunately I am currently in a neverending loop of Free to Be You and Me, Curious George and some other folksy kid cd. BARF.
5. For a while in 7th grade I tried being french and spelling my name "aimee". Then for awhile in highschool when I hated my dad I wanted to change my last name to my mothers' maiden name. (Oh, I was a real joy as a 15 year old, trust me.)

1. Tic-tacs- the white ones. I used to like the lifesaver-like white ones with the blue thing in the middle. Do they still make those?
2. My black Taryn Rose sandals but usually I'm wearing my brown Born sandals which are muy comfortable and cute, too!
3. Real. The alternative is just too creepy in a War of the Worlds sort of way.
4. My iPod plugs right into the car so I listen to whatever is on my playlist... sometimes the podcast from Grey's Anatomy(my secret shame)
5. I always wanted to change my name. Mostly I wanted different spellings of ny own name- I went through an Amie'phase sadly enough.

1. Prefer gum - any minty flavor - but Kyle hates the sound of mastication, so I stick with mints around him - whatever kind he has handy.
2. Barefoot now. Had my silver thongs on earlier.
3. Real. But the whole situation is still really f#$%ed up.
4. Radio or CDs. HATE talk radio. Kyle switches between Air America and the local conservative talk channel - now THAT'S fair and balanced!
5. Never really had another name in mind. Just say Julie!

See, now I like Nancy... it rhymes with stuff like Fancy. Fancy Nacy. What does Jocelyn rhyme with? Jocelyn trash bin. Jocelyn can't win. Jocelyn pant leg. No, just doesn't work. Fancy Nancy is much better.
Posted by: Amy | August 04, 2006 at 05:38 PM
1. Gum definitely. As substitute for proper brushing? mint. Fun? bubblegum.
2. Barefoot for now, but wore camel coloured heels with rounded toe, wooden heel and tiny buckle on side to work (very cute). Will don 8 year old tevas en route to Dairy Queen
3. Imagined. Those too are too weird.
4. Usually me singing with embarassing enthusiasm to the radio. Don't spend much time in the car.
5. I was totally meant to be "Anne with an E" right out of green freaking gables.

Hi!
I just clicked over from Mom's Daily Dose and, being the sucker I am for any kind of survey, I couldn't resist!
1. Gum, mints, or Tic-Tacs? And what flavor?
Orange Tic-Tacs all the way, although the other two will do in a pinch.
2. What kind of shoes are you wearing?
REALLY old Nina sandals from back when they still made chunky sturdy sandals. I recently realized that I've owned these for 6 years now... It might be time to invest in some new ones.
3. Suri Cruise: real or imaginary?
I never once thought that she might be imaginary. Now that I think of it though it is weird that there are no pictures anywhere. But then again, I don't think I've seen pics of Brooke's new baby either... hun...
4. What kind of entertainment do you listen to in the car -- radio, CD, talk show, or none of the above?
I would listen to CDs but the darned machine doesn't work, so instead I listen to the radio. Anything playing music goes in the morning and afternoon, in the evening I'm a tad partial to Delilah.
5. Did you ever want to change your name as a kid? If so, what was your favorite "new" name?
I can't think of a name I would have wanted. I think I've always been so thankful that my parents didn't go with Margaux as they had planned. Jessica always seemed great in comparison.

No way. I totally like Nancy better than Jocelyn. :)
Posted by: Mommy off the Record | August 04, 2006 at 09:27 PM
1. Cinnamon Altoids. Hate gum.
2.Now, barefoot. Earlier, Choos, baby.
3. I can't even process this question
4. Air America, all the time. Unless Jerry Springer is on, or the Period Sisters. Then it's whatever I can find (NY radio sucks).
5.As a kid I wanted to be named Maria. Or Debbie.
(PS My dad wanted to name me Jocelyn)
Posted by: Mom101 | August 04, 2006 at 10:46 PM
1. Altoids!
2. Another barefooter here. Earlier, my mesh Skechers, also known as "this summer's mommy shoes"
3. Real. The poor thing.
4. NPR, unless it's that annoying Zorba Pastor guy. Or kids' music.
5. Also went through a phase of spelling my name differently. And I wanted to be named Elizabeth. 'Cause I knew one day I'd wanna be just like Mom-101.
Posted by: Mayberry | August 04, 2006 at 11:32 PM
1. I like all three, but I think TicTacs are my favorite because I've always been a sucker for the packaging. I like Orange TicTacs. But if my breath is icky, I head for Breathsavers, in wintergreen (I really love wintergreen.)
2. I'm not wearing shoes. Or pants.
3. She's totally fake. I think they're either going to adopt a girl, or they'll shield "Suri" so carefully from the paparazzi that we never see any images of her, until she dies of some freak ailment while away at Swiss boarding school, just in time for her parents to make some big come-back.
4. I don't drive.
5. Hmmm. Well, I hated my nickname (not Roo-- the other one), but I always liked my real one. There were other names I liked, too, but I don't want to write them-- they may come in useful someday.
Posted by: roo | August 05, 2006 at 12:26 AM
1. Gum. I like the new "urban hip" gum, Stride. I can't get cool points any other way. Mints are fine, too, as long as they're sugarfree. Sugary aftertaste makes me breath even more stank than it was before the remedy. TMI, I know.
2.Jesus joggers. But I am jonesing for an ugly pair of Crocs (the only shoes uglier than Birks) now that D has some.
3. Real. She hasn't been photographed more because Tom is nuts and rich, I think, and less because of Scientology.
4. ESPN sports talk. Seriously. Colin Cowherd is my fave. But I also love the "Country Legacy" station here and, naturally NPLR (National Public Liberal Radio, as my Libertarian friend calls it). I want to make love to Sylvia Poggioli's voice.
5. I so wanted to be Jennifer. My grammy even called me that for the first 3 months of my life. But I was almost Phoebe or Daphne, so it could have been worse than stefanie-with-an-f.
Nancy is SO much better than Jocelyn. Even though I love Jocelyn Ford's voice from Marketplace. I mean, Nancy Drew? Hello, what's cooler than that? Plus, Nancy fits you.

1.Gum...I like the Altoids gum for it's breath freshening ability. However, I love Fruit Stripe, Big Red, or cinnamon Trident. So typically cinnamon is my fave.
2. I'm barefoot but I just got up! I've been wearing my $6 black sandals from Target (purchased on clearance at the end of last summer) almost daily.
3. Real. I just don't think they want her photographed.
4. Radio...but I'm a station flipper. I prefer music when I commute. I listen to Bob and Sheri quite a bit in the mornings. I'd love to say I listen to NPR, but I rarely do.
5. I always liked my name, believe it or not!
Posted by: Jamie | August 05, 2006 at 08:34 AM
1. Gum, something minty or cinnamon. Right now I have some little tiny icy orange thingummies. Also do have a soft spot for Altoids (peppermint or cinnamon).
2. Pale pink Clarks ballet flats.
3. Real. I think if they made it up, they'd be flaunting the baby they bought or rented around as much as possible to throw us all off.
4. No driving. I read on transit.
5. hated my name. Hated it. Replacement name changed all the time. At some point figured it might be a middle name to adopt and go by.

1. I overdid mints as a kid and now I'm really not down with mints. I'm not really much of a gum person either...chewing it for too long gives me a headache. I have to really feel like gum. Tic Tacs are good, and so are Mentos too, but only so often.
2. Bare feet.
3. I'm sure she's real. And while I do think that it's kind of weird that there hasn't been a picture or credible sighting of her yet, I respect the fact that Tom and Kate want to keep her on the down-low. At least, I try to respect that.
4. CD's.
5. Nope. I love my name.
Posted by: mamatulip | August 05, 2006 at 01:12 PM
oooh. love these.
1. Gum--fancy flatpack kind, spearmint.
2. none right now
3. real (uhm, i think)
4. radio (npr) or compilation CDs (i can sing my head off in car on my own)
5. yes--desparately wanted to be christine, jane, susan, or sally (exotic, huh?)
Posted by: joy | August 05, 2006 at 02:41 PM
1. Gum, mints, or Tic-Tacs? And what flavor?
Acutually, I go on wierd flavor jags. For while, there were these tart sugar free peach things that I sucked down like crazy. Then, onto citrimint Orbit. But right now, nothing.
2. What kind of shoes are you wearing?
Barefoot now, but last in my Birkenstocks
3. Suri Cruise: real or imaginary?
Real, but doomed.
4. What kind of entertainment do you listen to in the car -- radio, CD, talk show, or none of the above?
CD's or radio. I like the hip hop stations.
5. Did you ever want to change your name as a kid? If so, what was your favorite "new" name?
Yes, and it was Susan, which is baffling as I can't recall liking anyone of that name.

Gum - cinnamin flavor.
Slippers.
Real.
Radio or CD.
I have always liked the name Dawn I think.
Posted by: Dawn | August 05, 2006 at 06:29 PM
Spearmint gum
Barefoot
Real, but destined to be fucked up for life
CDs or Sirius depending on my mood
Victoria
Posted by: TB | August 05, 2006 at 09:56 PM
1. TicTacs - Peppermint, but when I'm feeling frisky I get the orange ones.
2. Barefoot with a dog asleep on my feet. Better than bunny slippers.
3. Totally real. I don't know what everyone's worried about. She's safely tucked away with Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.
4. My iPod or talk radio.
5. I always loved my name, but I was drawn to those names when shortened sounded like boys names: Alex, Sam, Charlie, etc.
Posted by: Mrs. Chicky | August 05, 2006 at 10:08 PM
1. Mints. Bad TMJ. Can't chew gum. Jaw goes slaaaack.
2. Barefoot. Earlier: Reef flips. The summer uniform shoe.
3. Real. (shudders)
4. 98.9 WCLZ or Air America
5. Hate my name. Always wanted to change to my grandmother's maiden name: Fallon. Then Dynasty came along and killed it for me.
Posted by: madge | August 06, 2006 at 09:58 PM
1- Orange tic tacs.
2- Barefoot because I was just swimming, but I have black Old Navy flip flops at my feet.
3- Probably real, but I don't think she's Tom's. I think she is the product of donor sperm because Tom has a sexual perversion so vile, even he doesn't understand it.
4- Radio mostly (www.livelifelive.com) or CDs.
5- I never liked my name. I can never get my name on a toothbrush or pencil. I desperately wanted to be a Kate or Sarah.
Posted by: Chantal | August 07, 2006 at 03:46 PM
Altoids, bare feet, imaginary, CDs, Babette.
Posted by: Her Bad Mother | August 07, 2006 at 05:45 PM
Ahh, Fast Five. Refuge of the weary commenter! Thanks.
1. Tic Tacs when I can get 'em. Usually it's those Breathsavers mints (Cinnamon) in the container where you can either "share" or "not share."
2. I am barefoot and picking at my toes.
3. Hmmm. I'm on the fence on this one.
4. Def Leppard rocks!
5. I have learned to love my name. As a child, I would have given anything to be a Linda.
